Inhabited on and off since 1988, current lodgers have called this place, at Troje a Holešovic, Prague 8, home for over 10 years. Often a host of underground cultural events; concerts, festivals, art and most importantly a unique and unparalleled community. Initially abandoned in 1988, the building has remained the property of the state despite the squatters’ offer to attempt to purchase the building. An ongoing battle against security forces has been raging for some time. They cite noise pollution and unacceptable sanitary conditions of the surrounding area as reason for the necessity of evacuation of Squat Milada. The residents received this well, meeting with local students who complained and offering to immediately cut down on the noise by creating a sound-proof concert room. But to no avail. In the current attack on the Squat, residents were given almost no notice before security showed up at the building, and began demanding that the current residents vacate the premises. In an effort to defend their home and community, Milada residents have devised a plan to delay security insurgence and create an area on the roof to remain steadfast while fans and supporters gather to protest the evacuation and security company action.
